Bobbi Jene Smith is an American dancer graced with phenomenal talent, presence and charisma. In 2005 she decided to move to Israel in order to dance in the legendary Batsheva Dance Company under the artistic guidance of the world famous dancer and choreographer, Ohad Naharin.
Movie shows not only unparalleled talent and individuality of the gifted dancer, but is also a portrait of a particular period in her biography, when she decided to leave comfortable life of a star and dare to fight for herself. The process of forming her own artistic independence took place for her in a new setting and configuration. Movie shows consequences connected to the radical and surprising decisions Smith had to make. It also depicts associated with them dilemmas and inevitable results of the desire to realize one’s life ambitions. It is also a portrait of women struggle to assert herself, also from men in her life and attempts by Smith to achieve success with her own art in the extremely competitive world of contemporary dance.
