Patricia van Deutekom

Graduated as a dancer from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem in 2005. Van Deutekom became the main dancer of company Jens van Daele | Burning Bridges. She performed in more than 20 national and international productions by Van Daele and served as co-choreographer and rehearsal director.

Jelena Kostic gave her one of the lead roles in dance film “Naar Huis” (2018) and she danced in Krisztina de Châtel’s “Scala” in 2022.

In April 2021, Van Deutekom founded her own company, VANDEUTEKOM Collective (f.k.a. LAVA Collective), to continue creating professional (theatre) dance performances with her inspiring vision and drive, and to develop her unique style and artistic signature as a dance maker. For VANDEUTEKOM Collective (f.k.a. LAVA Collective) she created “Furia” (2022), “Mist” (2022), “étude des hommes” (2023) and “La Despedida” (2023), for which she was nominated for the Swan most impressive dance performance 2023. Last season she created “Unman” for Conny Janssen Danst. In addition to her work as artistic director, choreographer and dancer, Van Deutekom works as a dance teacher and teaches at various national and international dance academies/art schools including Codarts Rotterdam, Fontys University of the Arts Tilburg, ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem. For many years she was involved in the team of Introdans Interactie, and the last 12 years she is part of the team of Talent Development and Education of Nederlands Dans Theater as a freelance teacher. The repertoire workshop is an introduction to the specific identity, dance vocabulary and working methods of Van Deutekom and her company VANDEUTEKOM Collective. Workshop participants do this by learning repertoire from current and previous productions. Besides the energetic dance language, they also engage with the themes of the performances and through playful and framed assignments create new material from their own interpretation without losing personal quality and identity. The work is labelled as explosive, raw, powerful and poetic. It is also known for elements of highly technical floor and partner work and the “all or nothing” nature of the pure movement form and performance language of VANDEUTEKOM Collective.

Yotam Peled

Yotam Peled is a choreographer, performer and teacher born in Israel in ’89. He has been practicing fine arts, athletics, and Capoeira since childhood, and at the age of 21 began dancing, to later on pursue higher education in contemporary circus. In 2019 he founded the ensemble ‘Yotam Peled & the Free Radicals’, dedicated to the creation of interdisciplinary performance. The company’s extensively touring creations include: ALPHA (2019), migrena2x2 (2021), fauna futura (2021), HEIMAT (2021), GET A GRIP (2021), Where the Boys Are (2023) – selected for Aerowaves#24, and FISTS TO FLOWERS (2023). He was commissioned to create for Theater Strahl Berlin, Skopje Dance Theater, Leipziger Tanz Theater, Cie. Hors Surface and Munstrum Theater, and was teaching in Fontys Academy of the Arts, Folkwang University of Arts, Dock11, Cooperativa Maura Morales, Overhead Project, PRISMA festival, IWANSON Munich and Marameo Berlin, among other institutions.

Between dancing and fighting
The workshop, inspired by the creation “Where the boys Are”, revolves around the meeting points of different movement methods such as release-technique, Qi Gong and Kung Fu, as well partner work originating from wrestling. We will make use of martial principles as an emerging language which enables listening and receiving, in order to create a diverse yet rooted physical conversation of bodies. Throughout the session we will introduce an organic flow between the individual body and work in unison with the other, mixing between technical exercises and improvisation and concluding with learning fixed material drawn from the performance.
The workshop will be led by the performers of the piece, each contributing from their skill and expertise, and it is aimed at participants with prior experience with movement beginners or advanced.
The duration and other details will be negotiation with the company after further interest of the organiser.

Benjamin Kahn

Benjamin Kahn is a dancer and choreographer. He studied dramaturgy and theatre at the University of Aix-en-Provence and the Conservatoire de Rennes, and he also graduated from ESAC (École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque) in Belgium.

Following his studies, he worked with choreographers such as Philippe Saire, Benjamin Vandewalles, Nicole Beutler, Ben Riepe, Frédéric Flamand, Maud Le Pladec, Egle Budvytyte, and Alessandro Sciaronni. He also serves as an outside eye and dramaturgist for other projects including “Cuir / Cie Un loup pour l’homme” and “Darkmatter / Cherish Menzo” among others and teaches dance at CNAC, ESAC, and conservatoires.

Since 2019, he has been creating his own projects. Seeing dance and choreography as powerful political tools, he is particularly interested in constructing and deconstructing the way we view individual and collective bodies. Drawing on the interdisciplinarity of his background and the richness of his studio encounters with singular performers, he creates pieces that combine texts, precise choreographic writing, and powerful sound and light landscapes to explore societal issues.

Between 2019 and 2023, he has been developing a trilogy of solos: “Sorry, But I Feel Slightly Disidentified…”(2019), “Bless the Sound that Saved a Witch like Me” (2023), and “The Blue Hour” (2023), all of which examine projections onto bodies, the gaze, and the connection between the intimate and the collective.

“Bless the Sound that Saved a Witch like me” is an attempt to portray a generation that is rebelling and trying to confront us with the violence and great challenges of the world that await us. It’s a solo which explores urgency across the boundaries of the intimate and the collective. It is the result of research into the meeting of poetic and political issues. But above all it remains a choreographic proposition in which physicality and embodiment remain central.

The workshop proposed by Benjamin Kahn explores the various issues underlying the piece, in particular those of the gaze, the portrait, the emotional score and the scream. Based on all of this, the aim will be to share creative practices with the participants in order to understand the creative process of the solo, and to share the methods of creation and choreographic writing by Benjamin Kahn.

Yana Reutova

Choreographer, dancer, and teacher, she hails from the small Ukrainian city of Chornomorsk. From 2013 to 2022, she led the Plastilin Dance Theater. Now living in Prague, she collaborates with the Tanec Praha organization and the Ponec Theater. For her, the most important aspect of her work is not to convey an opinion, but to share a feeling. She always wonders what emotions her performances might evoke in the audience. She places great emphasis on studying art therapy techniques, which she applies across different age groups. She conducts regular workshop sessions for Ukrainian children as part of the Culture for Ukraine project and lectures within the Dance with Play project, aimed at Ukrainian-Czech children. She is also the choreographer of interactive performances for children, such as “On the Road” and “Childhood Time”.

Her choreography includes the triptych “Together Alone” (Part I: “Lost,” Part II: “Invisible Traces,” Part III: “Paradoxical Bodies”), the duet “Womanhood,” and the project for the Benedikta Rejta Gallery titled “Beauty in Strength, Strength in Beauty”.

She has participated in the Czech Dance Platform (2023-2024) and the Tanec Praha festival (2022-2024). She choreographed the Focus Ukraine project as part of the Tanec Praha festival and participated in the Visiting Artists BPDA – Big Pulse Dance Alliance program at the One Dance Week festival in Bulgaria. She has taken part in various projects, including “City Horses” and “Still Live,” and participated in a residency at Espaço Tápias (Brazil) through the Rotas Afora project. She received support from EFFEA, which led to an invitation to the Kilowatt Festival in Cortona, Italy.

She has also participated in the Ukrainian-Lithuanian dance platform, performing the quintet “Lost” at the Art Print Shop in Vilnius, supported by the Aerowaves platform. Additionally, she performed at festivals like L’Altre Barcelona (Spain) with the “Lost” quintet and a children’s workshop, and Danca em Transsito (Brazil), where she presented her works “Invisible Traces” and “Womanhood” as part of the “Rotas Afora” project.

She has been involved in several projects, including Moving Borders, EDN Atelier, and Let the Body Speak. Her duet “Paradoxical Bodies” was selected for presentation at Atelier de Paris during the DANSE DENSE festival. She also showcased the duet “Womanhood” with Brazilian dancer Clara da Costa at the Bazaar Festival in Prague, and provided dramaturgy for da Costa’s solo work “Peel the Onion”.

This workshop encourages people to express their true selves through movement using the experiences of each body and mind, allowing its own intelligence to make it free to move in a more intuitive way. Workshop leads to a pluri-dimensional body focused on tonus and joint mobility, using basic actions such as looking and breathing, expanding senses and emotions that brings the body into the present moment.
