Double bill: Paulina Wycichowska - Gorgona _ Ewa Wycichowska – Sybillewo

Paulina Wycichowska – Gorgona

Gorgona – part girl, part crone. A beauty and a beast – a woman with menopause. She strikes with serpent hair, raises bronze arms, and spreads her wings. She knows, she sees – watching all. She brings fear, the breath of Hades, and death. Be careful where you look – she might turn you to stone. Yet, she too turns to stone under the gaze of others. Defeated, she still watches.

Ewa Wycichowska – Sybillewo

Sybillewo is a place beyond time.
She stays there: Sybill-Eve, who was-will be all-seeing and knowing.
Who has the courage to visit her in her cave?
What was-will be said there?

In the treacherous flow of rhyme lies power:
The ancient Sibyl, who in my forebears’ halls
Would sit down to dine, and I recall her hour:
To beware of echoing words and their thralls;
and to touch not the intoxicating vineyards beyond measure.
