Bytomski Teatr Tańca i Ruchu ROZBARK (Polska / Finlandia) _ Mommy Issues

Mommy Issues is an evening length theatre and dance performance by the Finnish/Dutch choreographer and director Cecilia Moisio made for company ROZBARK. The piece is inspired by the Oedipus complex: the psychoanalytic theory, where the desire for the parent of the opposite sex leads to rivalry with the parent of the same sex. This is a crucial stage in the developmental process of humans and the basis for all interactions and each individual’s striving for success and love.
In Mommy Issues Cecilia Moisio will discuss themes such as love, lying, the co-dependency to our parents and releasing ourselves from the ties of the past. We see rooms on stage where the male performers interpret different behaviour, emotions and psychological patterns: they seek comfort, unleash their sexual desire and project their aggression or frustration; always seeking for connection and love. The female performer represents all the different female characters in their lives: the mother, the lover, the sister or the rival.
