TVP Lublin and Centre for Culture in Lublin _ STANDY BY -PREMIERE

The film touches upon an issue of being a dancer on stage, but also of human existence in general. The film was inspired by “gracerunners”- a production by Karen Foss, a Norwegian choreographer. The lines: ‘I’m tired,’ ‘I’m ready’ spoken by the dancers throughout the performance refer to the life of every man. Hence the main motifs in the film: running, then the sudden stops or slowing down, depicting  a man struggling with their limitations, the physical struggle of the dancer with the choreography, space, body, and the fatigue.

The film is narrated in several sequences which are assembled regardless of the choreography, and even of the music.

The plot is brimming with physical improvisation in which uneven and unpredictable space plays an important role, being very interesting visually. The dancers struggle with its original charm. The scenes are arranged according to an abstract drama, according to the difference of tensions and moods, which all leads to a climax and then a release.
